We wish to extend our appreciation of your inquiry regarding our recording studio. The following information will provide some important aspects of the recording process, its production in general, and specifically how it evolves at My Thrill Studio. Our intent is to meet your recording needs and to insure that your experience will be both enjoyable and successful.
The process of recording involves two distinct primary phases. The first phase consists of the pre-recording set up and the actual audio recording. The second phase consists of editing and mixdown. The hourly rate for each primary phase is set at $30/hour. The client is responsible for establishing the number of hours spent on either phase. For example, a well rehearsed performance may very likely decrease the hours required for recording as well as editing. In contrast, a request for a well polished mix does demand more hours to produce than one basic in nature. Payment for each phase is required before progressing on to the next.
My Thrill Studio does offer the secondary phase of the recording process/production known as mastering. Mastering is considered to be a link between mixing and replication of the product (which is the last phase in the production process). It may be utilized to enhance sound, repair problems, or finalize a product so that it is playable on a variety of systems. If one is planning on duplication in large quantities, mastering is highly encouraged. This phase of the recording process is based on whether one is working with an EP (less than 30 minutes of recorded sound/less than 5 songs) or an LP (over 30 minutes/more than 5 songs). The various fees are $250/$350 respectively.
Mark Francis, proprietor and sound engineer of My Thrill Studio, strongly encourages each client to make a pre-recording appointment. This time will allow the client(s) to become familiar with the studio setup ahead of time, and to discuss the specifics of the recording project. This no cost session will serve to enhance the communication necessary between client and engineer to create the most successful recording experience possible.
